သမ္မာကျမ်းစာနေ့ Bible Day ကိုနိုင်ငံအသီးသီးကသီးခြားစီကျင်းပကြရာ၊ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတွင်နှစ်စဉ်သမ္မာကျမ်းစာနေ့ Bible Day ကိုဩဂုတ်လတတိယပတ် တွင်ကျင်းပပါသည်။ သမ္မာကျမ်းစာနေ့ Bible Day ဖြစ်ပေါ်လာပုံသမိုင်းအကျဉ်း မှာအောက်ပါအတိုင်းဖြစ်သည်။

 ၁၉ဝ၅၊ ပထမ Bible Sunday

၁၉၀၅ ခုနှစ်တွင် ပထမကျမ်းစာအသင်း British and Foreign Bible Society BFBS ၏ရာပြည့်ရန်ပုံငွေ “Centenary Fund ကောက်ခံခဲ့ရာမှ Bible Sun-British and Foreign Bible Society day အဖြစ်တစ်ရက်သတ်မှတ်ကျင်းပရန်အကြံစတင်ခဲ့သည်။ ထို့ ကြောင့် ၁၉ဝ၅ ခုနှစ်တွင်ပထမ Bible Sunday ကျင်းပနိုင်ခဲ့ (An efford was made toward the end of the year to inaugurate a Bible Sunday for Burma 1905 report page 6)။ သို့သော် မည်သည့်နေ့ရက်တွင်ကျင်းပကြောင်း မှတ်တမ်းမ ရှိခဲ့ပါ။

၁၉၁၂၊ အစဉ်အလာတစ်ခုဖြစ်လာ

၁၉ဝ၈ ခုနှစ် Bible Sunday ကို ဘဏ္ဍာရေးနှစ်ကုန်ပြီးချိန် (Bible Sunday being observed generally in December after the close of the financial year 1908 report page 10) Bible Sunday သည် အသိအမှတ်ပြုသော အစဉ်အလာတစ်ခုဖြစ်လာသည်။ (We are grateful for the fact that “Bible Sunday” is becoming a recog-nized institution. 1912 report page 26)॥ ၁၉၂၁ ခုနှစ်မှစ၍  2nd Sunday of Advent  (1921 report page 19)

၁၉၄၇၊ သမ္မာကျမ်းစာနေ့ တစ်နှစ် နှစ်ကြိမ်

၁၉၄၇ ခုနှစ်တွင် နှစ်ခြင်းအသင်းတော်များသည် ဩဂုတ်လ ၁၇ ရက်နေ့တွင် ပထမအကြိမ်အဖြစ်ကျင်းပပြီး၊ (On August 17th 1947, Baptist Church through out Burma observed Bible Sunday.  This was the first year in which we have appealed widely to the Baptist Churches for such observames )၊ ကျန်အသင်းတော်များသည် ဒီဇင်ဘာလ ၇ ရက်နေ့တွင် ကျင်းပကြသည်။  (other churches observed Bible Sunday on Decem-ber 7th 1947 the Second Sunday in Advent 1947 report page 4)။

 

၁၉၅၅၊ ခိုင်မာသောအစဉ်အလာ

၁၉၅၅ ခုနှစ်တွင်၏ ဩဂုတ်လတတိယတနင်္ဂနွေနေ့ကို Bible Sunday ဟု ခိုင်မာသောအစဉ်အလာအဖြစ် ကျင်းပနိုင်ခဲ့သည်။ (It is now a well- established tradition for the Free Churches in Burma to observe Bible Sunday on the third Sunday in August and….1955 report page 4)။ အင်္ဂလီကန်အသင်းတော်များက Second Sunday of Advent တွင် ကျင်းပခဲ့ကြသည်။

၂၀၀၄ ခုနှစ်တွင် အင်္ဂလီကန်အသင်းတော်များသည် အသင်းတော်များတစ်လုံးတစ်ဝတည်းဖြစ်ရေးကို တည်ဆောက်ခြင်းအတွက် 2nd Sunday in Advent တွင် သီးခြားမကျင်းပတော့ဘဲ၊ ဩဂုတ်လတတိယတနင်္ဂနွေနေ့တွင်ပြောင်းလဲကျင်းပခဲ့ကြသည်။

၂၀၁၇ ခုနှစ်မှစ၍ Bible Day ကိုပို၍အနှစ်သာရရှိရှိ တစ်ပတ်တာလှုပ်ရှားမှုဖြစ်အောင် Bible Emphasis Week အဖြစ်တိုးချဲ့ကျင်းပနိုင်ခဲ့သည်။

History of Bible Day in Myanmar

 

While Bible Day is celebrated on different dates in various countries, in Myanmar, it is celebrated annually during the third week of August. The brief history of how Bible Day came into existence is as follows:

1905: The First Bible Sunday In 1905, during the Centenary Fund collection for the 100th anniversary of the first Bible society, the British and Foreign Bible Society (BFBS), the idea of designating a single day as “Bible Sunday” was first proposed. Consequently, the first Bible Sunday was celebrated in 1905. (“An effort was made toward the end of the year to inaugurate a Bible Sunday for Burma” – 1905 report, page 6). However, there was no record of the exact date on which it was held.

1912: Becoming a Tradition By 1908, Bible Sunday was generally observed in December after the closing of the financial year. (“Bible Sunday being observed generally in December after the close of the financial year” – 1908 report, page 10). Bible Sunday then became a recognized tradition. (“We are grateful for the fact that ‘Bible Sunday’ is becoming a recognized institution.” – 1912 report, page 26). From 1921 onwards, it was observed on the 2nd Sunday of Advent (1921 report, page 19).

1947: Bible Sunday Twice a Year In 1947, Baptist churches observed Bible Sunday for the first time on August 17th. (“On August 17th 1947, Baptist Churches throughout Burma observed Bible Sunday. This was the first year in which we have appealed widely to the Baptist Churches for such observances”). Meanwhile, other churches observed it on December 7th. (“…other churches observed Bible Sunday on December 7th 1947, the Second Sunday in Advent” – 1947 report, page 4).

1955: An Established Tradition By 1955, observing Bible Sunday on the third Sunday of August became a firmly established tradition for non-liturgical/independent churches. (“It is now a well-established tradition for the Free Churches in Burma to observe Bible Sunday on the third Sunday in August and…” – 1955 report, page 4). Anglican churches, however, continued to celebrate it on the Second Sunday of Advent. (“…the Anglican Churches on the 2nd Sunday in Advent” – 1955 report, page 4).

2004: A Unified Bible Day (3rd Sunday of August) In 2004, to foster ecumenical unity among churches, Anglican churches stopped celebrating it separately on the 2nd Sunday of Advent and shifted their celebration to the third Sunday of August.

2004: From “Bible Sunday” to “Bible Day” Since churches observe their holy day on either Sabbath (Saturday) or Sunday, the name was officially changed from “Bible Sunday” to “Bible Day” starting from 2004.

2007: Bible Day & Bible Emphasis Week To make the occasion more meaningful, the celebration was expanded into a week-long movement called “Bible Emphasis Week” starting from 2007.
