(1) Translation Activities
The Bible Society of Myanmar is dedicated to making the Bible accessible in various local languages across the country, offering it in digital, print, and audio formats.
According to Ethnologue, Myanmar has a population of approximately 54,879,000 people who communicate in 115 indigenous languages, with Burmese recognized as the official language. Major language groups such as Burmese, Karen, Chin, Kachin, Kayah, and Shan have had the entire Bible translated into their respective languages, with around 50 languages featuring complete translations. Currently, the Bible Society of Myanmar oversees 10 active Bible translation projects.

Bible translation consultants are reviewing the translated manuscripts to ensure that the Bible translation is not only accurate but also relevant to the text. They are overseen by (2) full-time translation consultants and (4) part-time translation consultants.

CAP (Computer Assisted Publishing) Staff
2 CAP staff, Saw Soe Lin and Thawng Kop Tung, typeset all the completed manuscripts. Saw Soe Lin has been a CAP staff member since 1994, and Thawng Kop Tung since 2008.
(3) Scrutiny of Bibles
The Geba Old Testament, which has already been translated, was scrutinized by the translation consultant, Rev. Nant Aye Aye Chit, in Taungoo during May 5-8, 2025. (There is also a trip planned for November.)
The Akha Samma Bible was scrutinized by the translation secretary, Saya Ze Zaung, in Kengtung during June 23-27, 2025.
The Asho Chin Samma Bible was scrutinized by the translation consultant, Mrs. Naw Gay Balu Pho, in the Myanmar Bible Society Library during August 11-15, 2025.
The Hakha Chin Old Testament (New Testament) was scrutinized by the translation consultant, Venerable Rev. Dr. Nang Sawm Piang, in Yangon during March, June, August, September and October, 2025.
The Lay Myo Chin Old Testament manuscript review was conducted by Translation Consultant Ms. Naw Gay Blut Paw from October (15) to November (15) 2025 at the Bible Society Library in Yangon.
Audio Bible Recordings
BSM partners with Faith Comes By Hearing to record the New Testaments and with Davar Audio Bibles to record the Old Testaments.

Literacy Program
In 2026, BSM launched the Geba literacy program to enhance engagement with Scripture, under the leadership of Literacy Coordinator Naw Gay Blut Paw, who collaborates with the Geba Literacy team to manage the initiative.
The Geba, an ethnic minority comprising approximately 46,000 individuals in Karen State and parts of Bago Region, is predominantly Christian (86%). Though portions of the Bible have been translated since 1870, the New Testament was completed in 2020 and is accessible in both Roman and non-Roman scripts. Church leaders have recognized the importance of literacy for children and youth to engage with these texts. To address this need, the Bible Society of Myanmar, in partnership with Baptist, Anglican, and Catholic church members, will implement a three-year literacy program targeting 6,000 non-literate children (ages 6–14) and young adults (ages 15–25) across 14 areas of Leiktho township, including Meiktalin Taung, Ngapyawtaw, Leiktho, Mailone, Tha Moe Taung, Kywalkya, Nanttarkone, Hteehtarsaw, Tauk-yalkhat, and five additional locations. This program will teach both Roman and non-Roman scripts, equipping learners to read, write, and understand God’s Word while also strengthening their faith, building confidence, and developing essential life skills for the future.
